SIWEC’s Prison Counselling and Aftercare Programme is dedicated to supporting inmates on their journey toward rehabilitation and reintegration. Guided by the Sikh principle of sewa (selfless service), our volunteers offer compassionate, non-judgmental support to help individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.

In-Prison Counselling

Our trained volunteers conduct weekly rehabilitative and spiritual counselling sessions at designated prison institutions. These sessions aim to:

Enhance inmates’ spiritual well-being through teachings rooted in Sikh values
Encourage self-reflection and personal growth
Promote law-abiding lifestyles upon release
Foster a safer and more peaceful environment within the prison community

While our programme is inspired by Sikh teachings, we welcome inmates of all races and religions who wish to participate and learn.

Aftercare Support at Halfway Houses

As inmates approach the end of their sentence, some transition to halfway houses like HEB-Ashram for reintegration. SIWEC maintains an active partnership with HEB-Ashram, where our volunteers continue to provide weekly counselling and support to residents.

These sessions help bridge the gap between incarceration and community life, offering emotional and spiritual guidance during a critical phase of rehabilitation.

Reintegration & Family Support

Reintegration doesn’t end at release. SIWEC works closely with inmates, halfway house residents, and their families to ensure a stable transition back into society. We provide:

Basic necessities for survival post-release
Financial and employment assistance
Service linkage to relevant community resources
