As Sikh Welfare Council (SIWEC) is now an Approved Charity with IPC Status (Institution of a Public Character) all donations to SIWEC (regardless of amount) are entitled to DOUBLE TAX DEDUCTION.
Example: If you donate $1,000 you will be entitled to deduct $2,000 from your taxable income. (Note: For donations made up to 31st Dec 2009; this deduction is 2.5 times instead of 2 times) Donations made via GIRO plans are also entitled to the same Double Tax Deduction.
Individuals do not need to do anything to enjoy this double tax deduction provided your NRIC / FIN number is recorded on the receipt or the GIRO Forms. It will be given to you automatically by IRAS based on returns provided by SIWEC to them.
Organisations should retain and submit their tax deductible receipts to claim the tax deductions.
